Advanced Sound Testing / Training Course IS0 16283 Parts 1 & 2
Sound Test Ireland (part of Dalton Acoustics Ltd) are delighted to announce the successful completion of an “Advanced Sound Insulation Testing / Training Course” for ISO Parts 1 & 2 as per Building Regulations Technical Guidance Documents Section E – 2014, at Sound Research Laboratories, Holbrook House, Little Waldingfield, Sudbury, Suffolk CO10 0TF, on February 10th. 2016.
The award was made to Mr. Ted Dalton B.Sc. MIOA (Senior Acoustic Consultant) by Mr. David Clarke, Director of SRL Technical Services as part of the ACASITI training scheme for MIOA (Members of The Institute of Acoustics – Acoustic Consultants)
Course details included; Sound Insulation Testing
- The key principles of sound insulation and the common causes of failure,
- Establish diagnostic ability both in theory and in practice,
Principles of Sound Insulation and Sound Testing as per ISO 16283 Parts 1 & 2
- Cover all the main construction types, including the elements which cause issues
- Discuss “detailing” vs “workmanship” and look at practical remedial measures to improve failing constructions
- Measure the SI performance of a partition and identify the cause of all the problems
- Measure the SI performance of a floor and identify the cause of all the problems
Causes of Failures for Sound Insulation Tests
- Analysis of several real cases where constructions failed to meet Building Regulations
- Based on information provided (which will include the constructions specified by the Architect and the results in 1/3 octaves) identify the most likely causes of failure and what can be done to resolve the issue
Sound Testing as per the revised TGD Section E 2014 requires tests be carried out to ISO 16283 Part 1 for airborne sound testing on walls and floors. It also requires that sound testing be carried out to ISO 16283 Part 2 when this standard is fully published
